An initiative of the Dublin City Public Libraries the Dublin: One City, One Book project is in its fifth year. The aim of the project is to get everyone in Dublin reading the same book. The book choice for April 2010 is The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

The Picture of Dorian Gray was first published in 1890. Dorian is a young man who was both good looking and rich. When he sees a spectacular portrait of himself he is bewitched and offers his soul in return for eternal youth and good looks. Under the influence of friend Henry Wotton, Dorian lives a double life with behaviour that sinks into debauchery and cruelty.
